Blog Post #2-Thomas Pasillas

Technoscience has shaped the ideas of society about perfection and advances in technology have allowed social media to become the primary source of influence and information.  What is perfection and who decides what perfection is?  This is something that I feel is largely produced on advancing technologies and social media.  With greater access to information than ever someone is able to diagnosis themselves with diseases on the internet and get the information they need in order to perfect their smallest symptoms.  Whereas social media sites like Instagram and Snapchat have influenced picture taking, labels and the idea of perfection of an individual through filters and better angles.  Other social media outlets like Twitter and Facebook provide the information on current events and other important topics going on in the world today.  I don't even remember the last time I opened a newspaper or turned to a news station on purpose.  New social media sites have provided authority figures the largest platforms to get information and opinions about certain topics of interest to large groups of people.  The example that comes to mind is a certain politician tweeting a lot about his strong opinions.  It amazes me to see how much more embedded technology has come into my life in my lifetime.  I wake up every morning and check Twitter and Reddit in order to catch up one what is going on in the world.  The question that comes to mind though is whether or not the widespread waterfall of information and advancing of technology benefits society in a mostly positive matter or not.
